How multi-lingual are you? WhatsApp is about to make it easier to communicate across languages with a new feature that translates chat messages automatically.
According to WABetaInfo, this upcoming update will allow users to read messages in their preferred language using language packs. When activated, a notification will prompt users to toggle the translation feature, enabling all new messages in the thread to be translated. A panel will let users select the desired language for translation.
This feature is particularly useful in international group chats, eliminating the need to use external translation apps. For example, “Me tengo constipado” will correctly translate to “I have a cold.”
Initially spotted in a beta version for Android, this feature might also come to iPhone. WhatsApp is developing its own in-house translation technology, ensuring end-to-end encryption as translations are processed on-device, enhancing security and compatibility between iPhone and Android users.
This new translation feature will simplify multi-lingual communication on WhatsApp, making it easier to stay connected. Keep an eye out for its release. ¡Estupendo!
